Join us on this wonderful walk in the White Peak area of the Peak District to
celebrate IWD! A gem of a route including 3 of the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. Guided by the fantastic Emily Taylor from Peak Outdoor Coaching.

Come and join a group of like-minded women on International Women’s Day to explore the Peak District. We’ll learn about the fascinating history and geology of the area, as well as finding some interesting flora and fauna along the way. And if you’re feeling brave enough, let’s enjoy a chilly river swim together supervised by our very own OW Swim Coach, Zoe.

    Date/Time: 8/3/24 10am - 2pm (inc. swim time)
Location: Parsons Field Car Park, Parsons Cl, Hartington, Buxton SK17 0BE              Cost: £35pp; homemade secret recipe cake, a discount voucher for 15% off The Dip & Dales Co, and 3 very qualified and experienced leaders.

Starting in the pretty village of Hartington, this beautiful low-level walk is a White Peak gem. With green hills, crystal clear rivers and streams, and limestone rocks jutting out from the landscape. Beresford Dale is the first of the three Derbyshire Dales that we walk through and here we’ll find our swim spot. A picturesque pool in the River Dove surrounded by greenery and steep limestone rocks. We’ll then start to warm back up as we head down through Wolfscote Dale and learn about the fascinating geology of the White Peak. We’ll take a short detour off the loop to explore some caves, before heading back towards Hartington via Biggin Dale. Of course, we have the option to finish at the local pub for a debrief!

    Distance: 5.5 miles/9km
    Level: Easy
    Elevation: 515ft
    Time: 2.5-3.5 hours

    Who will be your guide?
Emily Taylor (AKA @trigsandteeth on Instagram!) who is a Hill and Moorland Leader based in Glossop at the edge of the Dark Peak. This is what she has to say:

I've always been outdoorsy since being a young girl but hiking became a real obsession in 2019 when I started to go solo. I aim to inspire other women to learn the many benefits of exploring in the outdoors and I’m passionate about sharing my love for adventure with you!

    Getting there:
We will be meeting at Parsons Field Car Park, Parsons Cl, Hartington, Buxton SK17 0BE
(https://maps.app.goo.gl/sDhioy6uBeuKDCsBA), which is around £6 for all-day parking. Pay by Phone is an option but phone signal can be an issue so take some cash to be safe. There is also some free parking in the centre of the village a short walk away
    (https://maps.app.goo.gl/GdYe3Gimgq8phnVY6 )
We aim to set off walking at 10 am so please arrive early enough to be ready to go on time.

    What to bring:
    ● Hiking boots or trainers with a good grip
    ● Plenty of snacks and a packed lunch
    ● Rucksack
    ● Water (at least 1 litre)
    ● Warm layers & Waterproofs
    ● Walking poles (optional)
    ● A small first aid kit with any personal medications
    ● Swimming gear (optional)

    Terrain:
Trails and footpaths. Some muddy sections. Some slippery limestone rocky areas.
    Toilets:
There are toilets next to the car park. There are none along the way so you may have to
embrace what I like to call a 'wild wee'. There are a few hidden spots en-route which I will point out if anyone needs it.
    Dogs:
Dogs are more than welcome, however, there will be livestock around and potentially other dogs, so they will need to stay on a lead for parts of it.

Qualifications: Leading you on this walk and dip, we have three very experienced instructors. Mountain Leaders, Hill and Moorland Leaders, Open Water Swim Coach & Outdoor First Aid Qualified.

Refund Policy: This walk requires lots of planning, health and safety forms such as RA's & hiring qualified and experienced instructors. With this in mind, you cannot exchange your ticket for another date and you are not entitled to a refund. You cannot gift your place to another person without permission from the organizer.
